Year Ends with a Vision Metropolitan Beer Sheba Program
Numerous visitors attended the first poster exhibit held as part of a series of events marking the end of the first year of the Metropolitan Beer Sheba Program
Dozens of posters created by the members of the Metropolitan Beer Sheba Program were showcased last weekend at the offices of the Mandel Center for Leadership in the Negev. The posters, which were prepared for the end of the school year, featured the vision, work plan and goals of each of the participants. The aspiration to "change the world" on a small scale received a focused and well-reasoned graphic expression. Beer Sheba Mayor Ruvik Danilovich, who spoke with the program's fellows, expressed his appreciation and assured them of the city's willingness to support and assist in realizing at least some of these visions.
Among the ideas presented in the posters were: paving walking and bicycle trails across the city; opening a "get-together" shop for children and parents; establishing a high school for the arts; opening a support center for sexual assault victims in the Bedouin community; promoting musical education for children at risk; establishing the "Seven Wells" park that will provide occupation for detached youth; forming a new "values center"; advancing a program for developing the spirit of volunteering among immigrants from the former Soviet Union; founding a first Arab preschool in Beer Sheba; developing a project to train single mothers in computer graphics; integrating high school students into higher education; opening a center for social interactive art; re-establishing a pluralistic religious school and warm home for women encounters, specifically for women from the Negev
