The candidate selection process for the Social-Educational Leadership Program in Rahat is in full swing… The selection process of candidates for the Social-Educational Leadership Program in Rahat is currently underway. About half of the applicants have already been interviewed, and selection workshops are scheduled to follow the interviewing stage. When the thorough selection process is completed, a group compiled of 25 members will be formed. The program's directors, Safa Abu-Rabia and Israel Sorek report that applicants for the program come not only from Rahat, but from the surrounding vicinity as well, and that they are all highly skilled and socially active and involved residents. During the first year of the program, the members will attend one day of studies a week at the Mandel Center for Leadership in the Negev. The two-year program will include both a personal and a group process involving extensive studying and debates on matters concerning the Israeli society in general, as well as local issues regarding the town of Rahat in particular. In the future, the program's graduates are expected to undertake social leadership roles within and outside their residencies.
